KALs

This is the hub for KALs having to do with the “What Would Madame Defarge Knit?” series—all KaLs will be run via the Ravelry group site (why reinvent the wheel, eh?).

Before we get started, some useful links:

The Ravelry group page will host knit-a-longs for various patters, from What Would Madame Defarge Knit? published May 2011 by Cooperative Press. Some KALs will overlap, we’re sure, but we tried to make sure that the stress level would be low if you wanted to double up so there’s some leeway with end dates.

Schedule:

Wilhelmina Shawlette Sept-Oct 2011: Wilhelmina Shawlette (hosted by Chrissy Gardiner)

Van Tassel Mittens Oct 2011: VanTassel Mittens (hosted by Meg Warren)

Nov 2011: OZ patterns (Princess Langwidere cowl with Gretchen Funk and Not-So-Ruby Slippers with Dawn Ellerd)

Dec 2011: Bertha’s Mad Möbius (hosted by Erica Hernandez)

Jan 2012: Ms Prynne (hosted by Kathleen Rogers)

Feb 2012: Cthulhu Waits (hosted by Hunter Hammersen)

The Rules

1) cast on some time more or less in the appropriate month (We won’t tell if you’re early by a day or two)

2) knit one (or both) of the patterns for that month

3) post a picture in the KaL’s Ravelry thread showing you’ve finished the pattern before the end of the next month (so you’ve always got two months to finish a pattern)

4) use any yarn you like, and make any reasonable alterations so long as it’s still recognizably these patterns.

That’s it, that’s all! You get one entry in the drawing for each pattern you finish and post about on the Ravelry thread (i.e., if you made and posted six pairs of Not-So-Ruby Slippers, each would count as an entry). Shortly after the end of the finishing month, we’ll do a drawing from among the pattern finishers for prizes. There will always be at least one prize, sometimes more. We reserve the right to hand out extra prizes just for the fun of it as the mood strikes us!
