Sonnet 73 Gauntlets

This design grew from my love of autumn leaves. The yarn’s color perfectly matches the shade of yellow I see in the changing aspen leaves where I live. The leaves are shaped accurately, and I love how the vine lace pattern up the sides of the arm organically shapes the gauntlets.

Designer: Becky Greene

Finished Measurements:
Women’s M:
Arm circumference below elbow: 10″ / 25.5cm
Wrist circumference: 6½” / 16.5cm
Length of gauntlet: 12″ / 30.5cm

Materials:
Our Humble Castle Swagger Fingering (80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 380 yds / 347m per 115g skein); color Aspen Leaves; 1 skein

Gauge:
28 sts and 46 rnds = 4″ / 10 cm in St st
19 sts and 20 rnds in garter leaf lace patt = 1¾” / 4.5cm tall × 2½” / 6.5cm wide.

Gauge is important in this item, but can be altered slightly for size. If knit at a gauge of 8 spi (as shown in green on page 130), it will fit a small woman or teenager’s arm. At a larger gauge than 7 spi, it will become too long for the arm. In order for it to fit at that gauge, omit the first 20 rnds of the chart.
